About UT Southwestern Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center
Established in 1989 through a generous gift from Dallas philanthropist Harold C. Simmons, the Simmons Cancer Center offers 13 major clinical care programs. Simmons Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Cancer Center, which is considered the “gold standard” that defines broad excellence in oncology. Such cancer centers are a major source of discovery of the nature of cancer and of the development of more effective approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis and therapy. They also deliver medical advances to patients, educate health care professionals and the public, and reach out to underserved populations.
