Fort Worth – January 15 – Moncrief Cancer Institute has been selected for a 2015 Fort Worth Beautiful Award. Citing its "outstanding contribution to the appearance of the community through quality landscaping" of the grounds and site, the Fort Worth Garden Club presented the award January 15, 2016, at the Dorothea Leonhardt Lecture Hall.

Moncrief’s Benjamin Barkley, Assistant Director, Clinical & Facilities Operations, and Lindsey S. White, PLA, ASLA, Caye Cook & Associates, accepted the award. Presenting the honor on behalf of the 500 member club were Garden Club President Suzanne Levy and Community Relations Council Chair Judy Harman.

Fort Worth Beautiful is an award that encourages the private sector to improve the community.

Completed in 2012, the $22 million cancer institute was designed to emphasize native plantings on the 3.4 acre site at 400 West Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth’s Hospital District. Using a combination of water features, trees and soft grasses, public and private gardens allow nature to produce a calming atmosphere for patients, visitors and staff members.
